Cookie policy

To make this site work well, we sometimes install small data files called “cookies” on your device.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that sites save to your computer or mobile device as you visit them. With cookies, the site remembers your actions and preferences (e.g., login, language, font size, and other display settings) so that you don’t have to re-enter them when you return to the site or navigate from one page to another.

How do we use cookies?

On some pages we use cookies to remember:

  • display preferences, e.g., contrast settings or font size;
  • if you have already responded to a pop-up survey about the usefulness of found content, to avoid re-submitting it;
  • if you have already authorized the use of cookies on the site.

In addition, some videos embedded on our pages use a cookie to process statistics, anonymously, about how you arrived on the page and which videos you watched.

It is not necessary to enable cookies for the site to work, but doing so improves navigation. You can delete or block cookies; however, in this case some functions of the site may not work properly.

Information regarding cookies is not used to identify users and browsing data remains under our control at all times. These cookies serve solely for the purposes described herein.

How to control cookies?

You can control and/or audit cookies as you wish – to learn more, go to aboutcookies.org. You can delete cookies already on your computer and set almost any browser to block their installation. If you choose this option, however, you will have to manually change some preferences each time you visit the site and it is possible that some services or certain features may not be available.

Cookies used for online tracking:

  • Google Analytics – Third Party Policy;
  • Facebook Pixel – Third Party Policy;
  • AdWords Remarketing – Third Party Policy;
  • Facebook Retargeting – Third Party Policy;
  • Push Notifications via External Service – Third Party Policy;
  • Online chat – Third Party Policy.

Site Navigation

We too, like millions of other site owners, are curious about how many people visit the site, how many pages are opened, where the readers come from, and stuff like that.

To get this data, we use Google Analytics, which is a great service provided by Google; Google Analytics is set up so that your IP address is anonymized, through zeroing out the last part of the address itself. We use Analytics data to better understand what you like and dislike, and to improve the content of the site.

The information generated by the Google Analytics cookie about your use of the website (including the first part of your IP address) is then transmitted to Google and stored on its servers. Google uses this information to track and examine visitors’ use of the site, and provide this information, in aggregate and never linked to your identity, through Analytics reports and its other information services (e.g., Google Trends).

Google may transfer this information to third parties where this is required by law or where they process this information on its behalf; Google Analytics’ privacy and data use policy is here here.

If you do not want to be “tracked” with Google Analytics, you can download the appropriate add-on that works with most popular browsers, and is distributed by Google.

Possibility of data deletion

At any time you will be able to request free verification, deletion, modification of your data, or receive the list of data processors by contacting us at info@space-whale.com.
